Here you will find all sorts of things: tips and tricks, book reviews, stories of my adventures, client features, and so much more!
Tuesdays Together, New Mexico Volunteers at Roadrunner Food Bank
I know it's late, but I had to share today's adventure with y'all. Today I took the time to volunteer at New Mexico's largest food bank with the Rising Tide Society's Tuesdays Together New Mexico group.
My Three Sons- An update
I've occasionally posted about my boys on this blog, but it's been quite a while since I've given y'all an update on them. So much has changed in the last few months alone! It's a crazy ride, raising these three boys that I've been blessed with, but I wouldn't have them, or this life any different.
'Go Set a Watchman' by Harper Lee- a Book Review
I finished reading 'Go Set a Watchman' by Harper Lee today. Yes, it's the same one that was originally rejected by a publisher for some strange reason that caused Harper Lee to go write her more famous novel, 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. This novel features a grown-up Scout, a much older Atticus, a Jem that is present only in memory, and a few new characters that I don't remember from my middle school reading of 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.
Dear Mom, Grandma, and Cathy...
With Mother's Day coming on Sunday, I thought this week's post would be an opportune moment to share with you all a little about the beautiful moms and grandma that I'm blessed to have. I honestly don't know where- or who- I'd be without them.
Books 1-12: A Book Review by a Photographic Bookworm
One of my many goals this year is to read 36 books. To some that may sound like a great many books, and to others, not nearly enough. But, as a busy mom of three active boys, a business owner, and someone who is dyslexic (Yep. I've worked hard to be able to read and spell well, because it's something that I enjoy!), 36 books- or three books a month- seems a reasonable goal. I've managed to accomplish one-third of my goal, and I wanted to take a moment to share with y'all what I've been reading.
Why I Support the American Cancer Society
This year, I will be donating $10.00 per mini session to the American Cancer Society, specifically supporting the Los Lunas Area Relay for Life chapter. While I've been advertising this, I realized that I've never said why I support this organization so much; why I'm raising money for them, and why I've become the event photographer for our local chapter.
Welcome to the World, Andrew Clifford!
We are so pleased to announce the birth of our third son, Andrew Clifford Bradshaw! At this point, Andrew is two months old, and both he and I are doing just fine.
How Photography Can Make Genealogy Come Alive
As I type this, I'm sitting here watching my boys decorate gingerbread houses with my mom as part of their Christmas fun. My dad is relaxing in the living room, and my grandmother is doing heaven knows what while puttering in her kitchen. We're currently at my grandmother's house sitting at her dining room table while all of this is going on. One of the things I love most about this room (besides eating dinner in it, and the people I'm surrounded by) is that it's covered in photos of our relatives. My grandmother's parents, their parents, and their parents are all represented on the walls of this room, as are my grandfather's.
Confessions of a Los Lunas, NM Photographer
It's hard to believe that I am once again writing this annual post. It seems like I just wrote the one at the beginning of 2016! But, here we are at the beginning of 2017.
Why You Should Choose a Local Photographer Over a National Chain
I admit it. I used to be one of those people that went to a national chain to have my family's portraits taken. In this particular case (the photo on the left), it was Portrait Innovations, and my eldest son- Christopher- was two. This was two years before I picked up my camera, learned how to use it, and started creating portraits myself. The portrait on the right, I took myself earlier this evening. Oh, and Christopher is now six.
We're Excited to Announce...!!!
Justin and I are excited to announce that we are expecting a new addition to our family! Christopher and Joshua will have a new little brother or sister coming in February!
Henry Estrada's Final Band Concert- Los Lunas, New Mexico
Henry Estrada has been the driving force behind the Los Lunas High School Tiger Band for the last 33 years. He has taught hundreds of students- including my husband and myself. He's given up time with his wife and three children, time with friends, and the pursuit of fishing in August to provide his students with the instruction that they needed to be the best that they could be.
5 Reasons I shoot Film
In this age of digital photography, one has to wonder, 'Why in the world would anyone take the time to shoot film?' Well, here are my reasons for shooting with film:
Happy New Year!
I'm always amazed at how fast time flies. Each year, it seems as if the new year sneaks up on me, no matter how closely I watch my calendar.
Christmas at the Bradshaw House
Christmas is my favorite holiday- but, not for the reasons that you may think. I love that this is the time of year when people slow down, when work becomes less important and family takes the spotlight. I love that I get to give people gifts, making them happy- even if it is for a few brief moments. But, most importantly, I love the traditions that my family has developed over the years.
Road Trip to Denver
The last full weekend in July, Justin, the kiddos, and I hit the road with Justin's family for a weekend in Denver. We hit Hammond's Candy Factory, and the American Girl Store, but the main attraction was a full day at Water World- a water amusement park in Denver.
Rancho Rendezvous 2015
The Rancho Rendezvous actually took place during the first weekend of August, and this year- by far- has been my favorite since this event's inception.
I Thought I Could Handle It...
I thought I could handle it, but I ended up crying. You see, my oldest son, Christopher, started Kindergarten about a week ago. He'd been in Preschool for two years already, and I thought that I would be perfectly fine dropping him off on his first day of Kindergarten. I wasn't. I'm not ashamed to admit that I was crying.
Relay for Life- Los Lunas, New Mexico
I was blessed with the opportunity to donate my time as a photographer to my local Relay for Life chapter this summer, and although the event was actually on June 26, this event has stuck with me all summer long.
George and Gayla's Backyard Wedding- Piqua, Kansas
This Friday, it will have been three weeks since Mr. and Mrs. George Purcell were married on a beautiful Spring evening. In full disclosure, George is my second cousin.
