I’ve been reading a biography of Fred Rogers, the guy behind ‘Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood’- you know, the children’s t.v. show we all grew up watching on PBS- entitled The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers by Maxwell King. In reading this book, I came across a quote from Dr. Margaret McFarland who was one of Mr. Roger's professors at the Arsenal Center of the University of Pittsburgh that has made me do quite a bit of thinking.Read More
Over the course of the last two years, I have been working to become a Certified Wedding Photographer through The International Academy of Wedding Photographers. This is an online school with courses in wedding photography taught by some of the biggest names in the industry. We go over all sorts of things: using off-camera flash, branding, photo editing, posing, workflow, and so much more. Part of the reason that I am working toward this certification is so that I can learn how to provide you guys the best services I possibly can.Read More
This year, in addition to serving as your photographer, I’ve set myself the challenge of reading 36 NEW (well, at least new to me...) books. I have a habit of re-reading books I love multiple times- which is great- but, there are so many new books published every year, and so many on my to-be-read list, that I need to add new books! It is so hard to believe that it is time to write new dreams and set new goals. I fell a bit short on a few goals from last year, mainly those of photographing 40 family sessions (I made it to 33!) and running a 10K (that didn't happen at all!), but I actually accomplished my other two goals of reading 36 books, and photographing 5 weddings. It was awesome to realize that I'd achieved those! It was also awesome to look back and realize that I'd accomplished so much more. I was featured on another blog, I was recognized as one of the best photographers in Albuquerque, and I met so many incredible individuals while doing something I love. How do I top all of that? I don't know, but I'm gonna try!Read More
This year, I will be donating $10.00 per mini session to the American Cancer Society, specifically supporting the Los Lunas Area Relay for Life chapter. While I've been advertising this, I realized that I've never said why I support this organization so much; why I'm raising money for them, and why I've become the event photographer for our local chapter.Read More
I had the opportunity to participate in a styled shoot that was sponsored by Alicia Lucia Photography this year, and boy did I learn a lot!
It was my first time working with professional models, make-up artists, set designers, and so on, but it was an awesome experience.Read More
First off, please forgive the iPhone selfie. Sometimes, the best camera is the one you have with you, and that was the one I had.
The above photo was taken shortly after I finished the 2015 Run for the Zoo Timed 5K on Sunday, May 3. I finished with a time of 51:09. It's not a great time, and I know I've done better, but my goal was to finish the course, which I did.Read More
